About Alex House:
This is mis-placed in "BedandBreakfast": it is only bed and no breakfast! And breakfast can be rather expensive in Italy. The location of Alex House in Florence is great, very central. The owner is only marginally involved, the actual care staff (when present) is friendly and helpful. Make sure you do not have a room in the front (towards the street), it is horribly noisy all night long. The back is fine. No air conditioning. Also, we were under the impression that we (3 people) had an in-suite bathroom and shower. It turned out that it was one bath/shower for the whole floor. So make sure you know what you are getting. Considering the price (90 Euro a night for three), it was probably not too bad. But don't count on personal attention and creature comforts.
